Resetting an EDGAR Passphrase

Resetting your EDGAR passphrase is a straightforward process. A security token will be sent to the EDGAR contact email address registered on the EDGAR system. Follow the provided instruction to use the token to create a new passphrase.

Users must have access to the EDGAR contact email on file in EDGAR to use this process. If you do not, login to the SEC’s website and check/update if needed. If you are unsure how to login, we are happy to login for you, and provide the POC and update if necessary. Please send a request to do so to edgarnext@dfinsolutions.com with your CIK and CCC, and who you would like your POC to be (Name, Business Address, Email Address, and Phone are required).

  1. On the EDGAR Management Website, with Login.gov credentials.
  2. Select Enroll in EDGAR Next. Select Passphrase Reset.

  8. Manually type the CIK and security token from the email sent to the EDGAR POC and create a new passphrase.
The new passphrase must be exactly eight (8) characters. It also must contain one of these four (4) special characters - @, #, $, * - and at least one number and one letter.
  9. Type the passphrase again to confirm and then select Reset Passphrase.
  10. Make sure the new access codes are saved in a secure location. Filers will need the passphrase to enroll in EDGAR Next.
  11. Once a CIK has been enrolled in EDGAR Next, the use of passphrase is discontinued.

EDGAR will return an accession number to confirm your passphrase has been updated.
